has hundreds of illustrations and below you will find an updated
price guide to these maps. This guide can be downloaded and kept
with your copy of the book.
Conventional price guides may give the collector the idea
that exact prices exist for specific maps. Nothing could be further
from the actual market situation. Each map trades in a more or
less broad price range and it is these ranges that are useful
to know. Then, based on condition and the factors discussed in
COM, one can determine approximately
where in that range a particular exemplar should fall. Obviously,
the other extreme to suggesting exact prices is to give ranges
that are so broad that they are not very helpful, and in the
present guide I have tried to avoid that.
